What's happening with Sardinia

Every day I'm experiencing a strange feeling about Sardinia, my mother land; many people outside see the small island as a paradise, a beautiful island surrounded by the sea, with a breathtaking nature and old history behind it; I'm quite okay with this kind of thinking, I'm also very proud of it's beauty.
But its ugliness is not about the territory nor historical fault.

Every person who's living there has experienced the "hopeless" prejudice received from the other Sardinians.

"What do you expect to do outside Sardinia? There's nothing for you."

"You expect that life is easier outside?"

"That person? They're searching for attention, that's embarrassing."

Being born in Sardinia is like a curse, the curse of not being enough in everything just because you're labeled as Sardinian, people don't take you seriously even if you get ill. It's scary, but you have to accept that Sardinians will despise you for succeeding in something, even if you bring something beneficial inside the island.
Nothing you do is good, even if you're a professional they're going to force you to do less, because you're not able to work properly for them.

It's painful to hear teachers making fun of students by laughing at their passions, making the mistake of creating an insecure future adult.
Many of us young Sardinians decided to run far away from this toxicity, where people consider us as normal functioning human beings, and discovered that we're not only able to survive alone but also to make a difference in other countries thanks to our uncommon and unknown skills.
